PUNCTUALITY: PUNCTUALITY: Importance of Time

Time is the essence of life in the world.  All creatures in the world carry on their activities as per a schedule. There is a time for eating, playing, flying, sleeping, e.t.c., all activities.

Even the earth moves as per a fixed schedule. Day and night occur regularly following a set pattern. This helps in maintaining the equilibrium of the universe.

Man has gone one step further and devised tools for measurement of time. Many activities of men have been set as per a precise time. But it is surprising that the set time is not respected by all.

Some people   do not follow punctuality and do not realize the importance of time. Punctuality simply means   doing something at a precise prefixed time.

This time may be set by an individual for his own work. It can be a time set by his superior at work or by a friend for a leisure activity. Now one may reach at the venue at the appointed time. Such persons are labelled as being punctual.

But in contrast there are many people who simply ignore it. Whether it is for work or a party, they are always late. Such people disturb the work of others if involved in a team work. If they are in a job related to public service, they cause inconvenience to the people waiting because they are always late.

They are not able to finish their own work in time because they do not start in time.

Either they have to finish it anyhow or it is postponed to the next day. Thus their work never seems to be finished and they are  never free to relax. At the end of the day, such individuals   either get stressed up and agitated or lapse in to depression.

Since this occurs everyday, the day ends only with stress. Moreover others do not trust this individual.  He is not assigned any   direct responsibility as far as possible. This is not a desirable situation for someone wanting to progress in his or her career.

Other people may mock at him or criticize him for being late always. Thus he   loses his respect along with credibility.

Meanwhile an individual who is punctual is always relied upon to do to any work. Even if he is late for some work sometimes, it is ignored. Because, he has acquired the reputation of being a punctual person.

In a broader perspective, one can understand the importance of time in relation to age. Time passed by never comes back. As one grows older, he has nothing except regrets at hand if he has not made use of the time and opportunities available to him before.

One should be punctual in making use of available opportunities at hand.

It is not difficult to be punctual. All what is needed is that a person keeps an eye on the clock.  As a habit he or she should start doing any work in advance of the set time. For example if he has an appointment at 10 a.m, he should aim to get ready and reach there by 9.45.a.m.

Doing something in time or maybe in advance gives a person more time. This time can be used in planning some other work. If everything is done in time during the day, a person has the time to do many tasks. Thus finishing all tasks he can relax and enjoy in the evening.

Every evening before going to bed, one can spend 5 minutes to arrange things for next morning. It is better to avoid staying up late in the night unnecessarily. If one sleeps early, he can get up early to start the work in time.

By observing these small things, one can become punctual by habit and he will never be late for anywhere. A punctual person is in harmony with the universe and shall always be successful in his ventures.
