RDF hosts regional meet on gender – based violence

Rwanda Defence Forces (RDF) in conjunction with United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM), have organized a regional meeting on Peacekeeping operations aiming at preventing sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV).

Maj. Jill Rutaremara, Military Spokesman said that the two-day conference which is due to kick today at Hotel NovotelUmubano will discuss principles, norms and realities on the ground about SGBV.

We will achieve much from this meeting since we will exchange ideas on the issue,” Rutaremara said, adding that the conference was funded by DFID and will be attended by 22 RDF officers.

Participants are drawn from different countries like India, Uganda Kenya, Malawi and Burundi.
