AFTER a lot of squabbles and wrangling in the athletics federation (RAF), the new federation president Louis Rurangirwa has promised to revamp the sport. Rurangirwa, who was the 1st vice president in the previous administration which was marred by allegations of embezzlement and swindling of money meant for the Kigali Peace marathon, has promised transparency, accountability and tapping talent at grass roots.
AFTER a lot of squabbles and wrangling in the athletics federation (RAF), the new federation president Louis Rurangirwa has promised to revamp the sport.
Rurangirwa, who was the 1st vice president in the previous administration which was marred by allegations of embezzlement and swindling of money meant for the Kigali Peace marathon, has promised transparency, accountability and tapping talent at grass roots.
"Our main objective is to ensure transparency and accountability while also developing the sport from the grass root level,” he said.
"We also want to send a big delegation to the 2012 London Olympic Games,” the 35-year-old, said.
The other members of the new committee include Alexis Kwitegetse (1st vice president), Constatin Kayitare (2nd vice president), Bernadette Nikuze (Secretary General) and Hodali Nsengiyumva (treasurer).
Former RAF boss Supt. Gerald Ntare resigned citing personal reasons.
