Editor,

I read with trepidation that the government public transport agency, Onatracom risks being dragged to court over debts amounting to Rwf4.6 billion. The transport agency has undergone a major restructuring programme which I think was long overdue.

This should have been done months ago and those that mismanaged the parastatal indicted. The management of the parastastal claimed that their vehicles were too old to contend with the competition.  At one point, they sold one of the purported old buses to a local businessman who later made very handsome profits.

The management was shocked beyond reproach when the same man came back inquiring if they were still willing to sell him more of the same "old’ buses.

By and large, this points to an incompetent management that has no place in today’s Rwanda.
