RWANDA volleyball federation (FRVB) has released Paul Bitok to handle Kenya’s national team at this year’s FIVB Women World Cup in Japan.

The Kenyan, who is on a one-year contract with the national men’s volleyball team, has started work in Nairobi.

"Bitok’s engagements with the Kenyan team fall within his annual leave so we have no problem with that because he is not breaching his contract. He will resume his national team duties on November 24,” the FRVB Executive Secretary Gertrude Kubwimana said.

Bitok, a FIVB Level One coach with a Diploma in Sports Science from Hungary, managed APR between 2009 and 2010; helping the team win the national league title in the same period.

Kenya will represent the continent in the tournament slated to run from November 2 – 19.

They qualified for the World Cup after winning this year’s CAVB Africa Nations Cup. The East Africans beat Algeria in the final.

Kenya (15) is the top ranked African team in the world and is followed by Algeria (17) and Egypt (23).

Rwanda is ranked 103rd.

Kenya has competed in four FIVB World Championship (1994, 1998, 2002, 2006), three FIVB World Cup (1991, 1995, 2007) and two Olympics (2000, 2004).
