GATSIBO-Police in Ngarama sector, Gatisbo District are holding a 29- year-old man in connection with the death of Rizinjirabake a.k.a Mahungu, 19, who was found murdered, last month.

According to police, the suspect, Narcisse Mahoro, was arrested on Thursday after days of intensive search.
 
Area residents said Ruzinjirabake’s body was found alongside the road, just a few hours after he left his home on September 10.

Speaking to The New Times, the deceased’s younger brother, Gilbert Dushimirimana recalled that his brother operated a bicycle taxi and was first called by the suspect late at night asking the deceased to ferry him to a nearby cell.

"We were asleep when Mahoro (suspect) called him late at night. He wanted Mahungu (deceased) to ride him the next morning. They left at around 4 a.m in the morning and later, I heard that Mahungu was dead,” he said.

The deceased’s bicycle, a mobile phone and Rwf50, 000 were stolen.
Police said that the suspect immediately vanished after the incidence.

"He eluded arrest for weeks but we arrested him in his hiding place in Kiramuluzi Sector. We were tipped by area residents after one of his wives visited him,” said Ngarama police.

However, the suspect denies the allegations although he admitted he was transported by the deceased.

Meanwhile, the suspect’s father, Oscar Mukarage accused his son of severe indiscipline.

"He has been indisciplined since child hood. He recently assaulted his own mother and his behaviour is totally unacceptable,” he said.
