Co-ops leaders recognised for outstanding management

GATSIBO-Members of a rice cooperative, COPROLIZ-Ntende, in Gatsibo and Kayonza districts, have donated nine Friesian cows to their leaders for their outstanding management that led the cooperative to success. Currently, COPROLIZ Ntende has a net capital of Rwf50million with over 2,000 members.  According to members, the Friesian cows, worth Rwf2.4m, were awarded to cooperative leaders as a sign of appreciating their thoroughness in leading them to success.

GATSIBO-Members of a rice cooperative, COPROLIZ-Ntende, in Gatsibo and Kayonza districts, have donated nine Friesian cows to their leaders for their outstanding management that led the cooperative to success.

Currently, COPROLIZ Ntende has a net capital of Rwf50million with over 2,000 members.

According to members, the Friesian cows, worth Rwf2.4m, were awarded to cooperative leaders as a sign of appreciating their thoroughness in leading them to success.

 "It is the first time in my experience to see cooperative leaders with such impressive leadership vision. They have been at the helm for over five years and we attribute all we have achieved to them. They really deserve the award,” said Barinabo Ntabanganyimana, one of the members.

The awards were announced during the general assembly to elect a new leadership committee held in Rugarama Sector of the district.

The elective posts were those of president, vice president, secretary general and two advisors.

Jean Damascent Rwamwaga was elected as the new president, Immaculate Mukasano as vice president while Faustin Uwimana became the new secretary general.

In his speech, the outgoing president, James Karangwa thanked members for standing by his side to make his tenute a success.

"I am happy that my leadership delivered accordingly. We started managing this cooperative while working under trees…but we now work in good offices, vehicles and motorcycles, while, all members are improving their lifestyles,” he said.

The new president promised to follow his predecessor’s footsteps saying that his committee will deliver according to the wishes of the members.

COPROLIZ Ntende operates in the sectors of Rwimbogo, Gitoki and Rugarama in Gatsibo and Murundi Sector in Kayonza District.
