Outgoing Eastern Province Governor Aisa Kirabo has pledged support to the province

RWAMAGANA-The outgoing Governor of Eastern Province, Dr. Aisa Kirabo Kacyira, has promised to continue supporting the province even after her departure for the new international assignment.

The United Nations Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon recently, appointed Dr. Aisa Kirabo Kacyira as Deputy Executive Director and Assistant Secretary-General for UN-HABITAT.

Dr. Kirabo said this while addressing what seemed to be her final provincial security meeting in Rwamagana yesterday.

Kirabo told a crowd of cheering districts’ leaders that she owes her new appointment to the good leadership of Rwanda.

The Governor disclosed that the position was very competitive but with the support of the Government and the Leadership, she made it.

"Our performance in the country is exemplary, which is why we get such jobs. Our success in settling people showed the world that we can beat all odds to reach organised housing,” she said.

Kirabo reflected that working as a Governor of Eastern Province, was the shortest assignment she has ever done, acknowledging that she received insurmountable support from all levels .

"The victory is for you all and Rwanda as a whole.  I only find myself where I am because I believe in serving people and the world,” she said, amidst deafening cheers.

The Mayor of Bugesera, Louis Rwagaju, spoke highly of the outgoing Governor, emphasising that she is hardworking.

"She is of great potential to Rwanda and the world...I am not surprised she got the  UN job,” he said.
