NPC sweat over Olympic qualifiers budget

THE National Paralympic Committee (NPC) still needs Rwf28.5m to host the sub-Saharan Sitting Volleyball tournament scheduled for next month in Kigali.

The NPC boss Dominique Bizimana told Times Sport yesterday that they have raised Rwf29.5m.

"So far, we have about Rwf29.5m but we still have a long way to go and are running out of time,” he said.

The tournament which starts on November 22 will feature ten teams including hosts Rwanda, Burundi, Cameroon, DRC, Kenya, Namibia, Nigeria, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia.

It is also a qualifier for the London 2012 Paralympics Games.

So far, two athletes have qualified for London Games; Hermas Cliff Muvunyi (Paralympics) and Adrien Niyonshuti (cycling).
