Bitok, who is still under contract with the local volleyball federation until February 2012, needs to get a go-ahead from the body.
"The Kenyan volleyball federation has written to us asking for Bitok’s services but no decision has been reached yet,” Philbert Mutwarasibo, an official with FRVB, said.
Bitok, a FIVB Level One coach with a Diploma in Sports Science from Hungary, managed APR between 2009 and 2010; helping the team win the national league title in the same period.
Kenya will represent the continent in the tournament slated to run from November 2 – 19.
They qualified for the World Cup after winning this year’s CAVB Africa Nations Cup. The East Africans beat Algeria in the final.
Kenya are the top ranked African team in the world. They are ranked 15th followed by
Algeria (17) and Egypt (23).
Rwanda are 103rd.
