Ideal interiors : Make your kitchen space look bigger

There is nothing as exciting for any woman like having a bigger space in her kitchen. I for one love the American style of a kitchen, this is one of those kitchens that once you start cooking, you don’t want to stop because you are so comfortable in preparing your food. You can move from one counter to the other without bumping into anything. Well, not all of us are privileged to have that kind of a kitchen, but the least we can do is to try and make our little spaces appear bigger. First and foremost, de-cluttering a kitchen for it to appear bigger is very crucial in this process.

Some kitchens have more things than what are actually needed. Having to give away some of the things which are making the drawers fill up and congest the entire kitchen is also crucial in this process. Alternatively organisers can be bought to help fit in more items in the kitchen cabinets.
Secondly kitchen counter tops need to be cleared off, once cooking time is over.

I know that in many kitchens toasters, coffee machines and even juice blenders are usually permanently placed on the counter tops. But seeing these things at the counter tops sometimes gives the feeling that kitchen is smaller, so if these things can be put in a cabinet to clear off the counter top – believe you me the kitchen will look bigger than it is.

Also colour of your kitchen walls do matter a lot if you are thinking of making your kitchen appear bigger than it is. Colours to choose from range from white to off white, because these two colours have a tendency of bringing lots of light into a room making it look bigger.

As for the cupboards doors and other fixtures, lots of people tend to use brown or mahogany, but the truth is that these two colours should also be used in the same, to make the kitchen feel airy and spacious.
White floor tiles for this purpose also help a lot in camouflaging the smallness of a place.

The best ones are plain without flowers, because flowered tiles have a way of swallowing up all the space making it appear smaller.

Mirror mirror who is the fairest of them all? Remember that Cinderella story? Yes mirrors have a tendency of giving you the false answer that we all yearn for when looking into it.  So they sort make a smaller place appear bigger.

They can be placed on reflective places or on the walls, where the effect will be felt.
Remember its all in the mind, on the flip side a small kitchen can be a blessing too, because it means less work.

But then if you want to have your kitchen appear bigger follow the tips above and your small kitchen can be a beautiful place to spend time in preparing healthy meals for your family.
