The national cricket team selection has been delayed by a week, local cricketers’ body has confirmed. Initially, the final team of 14 players had been scheduled to be named last Sunday but that plan was ditched after rain disrupted the team’s training schedule.

The national cricket team’s preparations for next month’s ICC World Cricket League/ICC World Cup Qualifiers were marred with heavy downfall over the weekend.
The 22-man provisional team who had played a Twenty20 trial game on Saturday at Kicukiro oval could not play

A 50-over game had been planed for Sunday but early morning down pour meant that, that game could not go ahead—the was no official word from RCA, the local cricketers’ body in regards to when that game would be played. On Saturday, the players weighed their batting ability with a Twenty 20 game in anticipation for the 50-over game the next day.

RCA selectors’ committee was planning to use the two trial games to help them in picking the final14 players who will make the team for the Johannesburg bi-annual event.
"On top of their physical training sessions, they also need to get the feel of the pressure that comes with the games and learn how best to deal with it,” one RCA official stated.

The 22 players on the provisional team were selected from the five local clubs; Kigali Cricket club, Indorwa, Right Guards, Young Tigers and Challengers Cricket club.
And the same players are fresh from representing their clubs in the just concluded RCA organized league that last for two months.

Rwanda’s oldest club, KCC continued their dominancy by adding that particular league to their collections after defeating archrivals Challengers by seven runs.
