Editor,

The closure of several restaurants and bars, last week, due to poor sanitation by Muhanga District health officials was long overdue.

Although the proprietors and some clients may cry foul, the side effect of eating from unhygienic facilities is huge. People spend a lot of money seeking treatment after falling sick.

Sanitation should not be compromised and such a move ought to be extended to other districts countrywide.

It’s equally important that leaders take measures against restaurant owners who fail to adhere to the set health guidelines.
