ABOUT 30 tennis coaches from the region are set to take part in a week-long clinic at Umubano Hotel.

The clinic, which gets underway this morning, will be conducted by Dermot Sweeney from South Africa’s International tennis training center, former ITF East Africa development officer Prince Madema and his new replacement Thierry Ntwali.

According to Ntwali, the clinic is a refresher course for the coaches.

"The idea is to boost the coaches’ knowledge of the game which in turn trickles down to the players,” Ntwali said.

Being hosts, Rwanda will field 14 coaches while the others will come from Eritrea, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Djibouti.
