My humble prayer this Sunday

This Sunday, I will be in church and for those who will see me there, do not ask what brings me to the holy house of God. Though am a regular, this Sunday will be dedicated to a special prayer that I want to share with my maker and this is how it will flow.  Dear God of Abraham, Jacob and Moses, you who led the children of Israel from the misery in Egypt into the Promised Land, I pray today that you deliver one Theogene Rudasingwa from obscurity.

You the most high, one who spends his day elsewhere and returns each night to the land of 1000 hills, you who provides light where darkness is predominant, I pray that you show Theogene the light of way, for he is completely lost in bewilderment.

Your holy word says wisdom is virtue for the chosen few and yes we believe. But in your merciful grace, I kindly pray that you give this gentleman some wisdom to prevail in his heart and soul because ‘wisdom means understanding the consequences of our actions and words before we act or speak and that although it is easier to follow our less-than-wise impulses, the reward for acting with wisdom is great.’

Like your holy word says, ‘when we give it (wisdom) our best effort, the payoff in self-esteem and inner peace will compensate us many times over.’

We very well know that wisdom is an enemy of deceit, manipulation and greed and when such attributes have become a bedfellow in one’s life, like we see with Theogene, then the values that come along with wisdom evades one’s soul and mind.

I pray that you grant Theogene courage to speak the truth and speak it with honesty. For the Bible teaches us in Proverbs 12:22 that lying lips are an abomination to the lord. Your holy word also teaches that some of the things you hate most are "a false witness who utters lies" and in Proverbs 6:12, your word says, "a worthless person, a wicked man, is the one who walks with a false mouth.’

Lord, this false mouth that you so much detest is sadly what Theogene has mastered lately. For 17 years, he claims to have kept a secret. Should we believe this? Not even the most senile would. However, we very well know the reasons behind these muddy allegations; his bowls are running empty and needs a re-fill.

What else do we need to know about the ill-feted plane crash than was revealed in the Mutsinzi report?  The facts and conclusions contained in the report were verified and authenticated by expert legal opinion provided by London-based barristers.

But even then, the government welcomed another investigation into this issue done by a French investigative team. They set foot in Rwanda and with support from government, combed every dossier, made field visits and interviewed whoever they wanted. They did all this, without anyone policing them around simply because the government’s conscience is clear.

As we speak today this team is finalising their own report, which should be made public any time from now.

But, because of the villain character and the dishonesty that Rudasingwa is known for, he emerges to try and influence the final findings of the investigation. Why? He might have sniffed the conclusions of this investigation and seeing that the very card he was anticipating to use for his subversive activities is tearing apart, he turns to an illusion in form of "personal confession” to remain relevant.

Even then and regardless of the on-going French investigations, we already have a binding document done by a team of experts, verified and adopted by relevant organs. The Mutsinzi report is based on facts and not fiction and is not secondary to any other document that will be produced in future on this subject.

Merciful Lord, we are told in the Gospel of Mark 8:22-26 of Jesus’ miracle in Bethsaida, a town in Galilee where he healed a blind man.  I also pray that you open up the eyes of the BBC for this great news media outlet is surprisingly getting blinded towards the values of truth telling, verifying facts, and double checking content as journalism teaches us. In fact they are increasingly becoming an easy platform for manipulation or duping.

I honestly do not understand how a dissident or fugitive would make outrageous allegations and a respected media outlet, which knows well the on-going investigations, jumps on it without first asking themselves the hidden intentions of such an individual. Did the BBC bother to find out the credibility of their source and the history behind him? Or when it comes to African issues, these journalistic values are ignored?

As I walk out of this holy place this Sunday, Lord, I remain convinced as ever that the good times for this country lie ahead and that Rwandans more than any time in their history, are a proud lot! I pray we continue this course and ignore the venomous utterances form those that wish us doom, including some of our very own!
