Solar will address energy shortages in our country. The New times / File photo

Editor,

I read with pleasure the news that the first ever school in Rwanda powered by solar is set to be commissoned. The School which is part of a project dubbed Increase Rural Energy Access in Rwanda through Public-Private Partnerships (IREARPPP) should serve as an example of the potential of renewable energy.

The same project will benefit a total of 300 rural schools in 27 different districts. This is a great step forward if we are to address the energy shortages we are currently facing.
