SAI Office Supplies Ltd has entered the Rwandan market as part of its regional expansion programme.

The distributor of office solutions brands such as Epson, HP, Lenovo, Fujitsu and D-Link says it has invested Rwf300m in Rwanda and plans to raise its financial outlay in the country to US$2m (Rwf1.2bn) over the next two years.

"We are aware that Rwanda has been lacking a supplier of genuine computer products and the problem of counterfeits has been rampant,” Jeeten Rajani, the Country Director for Rwanda and Uganda said, noting that the firm will ensure that local businesses and government offices do not purchase counterfeit products from China and Dubai.

The company initially supplied the Rwandan market through the Uganda branch office.

"The Rwandan government provided us with the best opportunities to start up here when we sent in a request. We were impressed by the government policy to promote ICT,” Rajani said.

Speaking to Business Times at the official launch of SAI office products, Vinay Gorajia, the Managing Director of Akagera Business Group said that as SAI Office is a Rwandan registered company, it will offer genuine products with warranty to local businesses.

"As business partners, we welcome SAI Office’s entry into Rwanda. Businesses can buy products through a proper channel with the manufacturers warranty and you are assured of originality since they also have a service centre in Kigali,” Gorajia said.
