Editor,

I was delighted to read your main story in Saturday’s issue of The New Times, October 1, titled  "Rwanda ready to implement single regional tourist visa.”

The new Rwanda is always one step ahead of the rest. This great nation is the only East Africa Community member state where one can apply  for a visa online.

Again, thanks to the pro-active Rwanda Development Board (RDB), this is the only member state where you can actually apply online from anywhere in the world, to register a business. This great initiative will also facilitate foreign direct investments in the tourism sector.

Certainly, Rica Rwigamba, Head of Tourism and Conservation at RDB is very right in saying that the EAC Single Visa for tourists would significantly boost tourism into this region.

The Travel and Tourism Committee of the Indian Merchants’ Chamber would be happy to work closely with Rwigamba and her team so as to achieve the goals of enhancing the development of the tourism industry in Rwanda, the land of great opportunities.
