District cautions against substandard schools

NYAGATARE-The Director of Education in Nyagatare District, Martin Hakizimana has warned investors against putting up substandard schools in the district. Hakizimana made the call after ordering the closure of Mary and Paul Junior Boarding Preparatory School in Nyagatare Sector. The school was closed after the district inspectors declared it substandard.

NYAGATARE-The Director of Education in Nyagatare District, Martin Hakizimana has warned investors against putting up substandard schools in the district.

Hakizimana made the call after ordering the closure of Mary and Paul Junior Boarding Preparatory School in Nyagatare Sector.

The school was closed after the district inspectors declared it substandard.

During the inspection, it was discovered that the school, which accommodated 45 pupils, had no academic curriculum coupled with poor hygienic conditions.

"We can’t allow such schools to operate in the district…these substandard schools destroy the future of our children,” Hakizimana said.

He further challenged parents to thoroughly scrutinise schools before taking their children.

"Parents should always be verify that a school is able to deliver quality education before sending their children,”   Hakizimana said.
