Volleyball duo turn pro

APR’s Lawrence Yakan and Vincent Dusabimana alias Gasongo (NUR) yesterday left for North Africa to join Algerian volleyball club Etoile Setif.

According to the technical director of the National Volleyball Federation (FRVB) Christian Hatumimana, the pair’s imposing display during the All African Games in Maputo were Rwanda reached the semi-finals, caught the eye of the Algerian club.

"This is a step forward for the players and local volleyball as a whole and wish them all the best,” Hatumimana said.

By press time, the players’ contract details were not yet clear.

The pair joins Elie Mutabazi and Jean de Dieu Uwineza, who play in France’s second and third divisions.
