RALLY ace Davite Giancarlo has something to build on over the next two rounds after finishing second in yesterday’s 2km Super Special Stage of the KCB Mt. Gorilla race.

Giancarlo, who was driving a Subaru Impreza N11, was two seconds slower that stage winner Jean Yves Ranarivelo of Madagascar after clocking two minutes and 29 seconds.

"It was a muddy road so one had to be careful especially during the bends,” Giancarlo, who was navigated by Sylvia Vindevogel, said.

Wycliff Bukenya of Uganda claimed the final podium slot in a time of 2 minutes and 30 seconds while Christakis Fitidis, Claude Kwizera and Felekeni Mayaka finished 4th, 12th and 14th respectively.

Day two will see drivers covering 337km spread over seven competitive section in the Northern Province. The longest stretch from Ntaruka-Kiramba is 30km long.

The race counts as a round on the national rally championship, KCB East African Rally Challenge and FIA African Rally Championship.
