KIGALI - About 50 senior managers from various private and public institutions have completed a two-day strategic leadership course in Kigali.

The training conducted by Dr. Mike Armour from Strategic Leadership Development International (SLDI) aimed at equipping top executives in business and district mayors with knowledge and skills to practice the right style of leadership.

Speaking to The New Times after the training, yesterday, Justus Kangwange, the Mayor of Rulindo District, said that the training had equipped him with key leadership skills.

"This is a very important course because we learnt how to inspire and motivate the people we lead so that they can be part of the development process,” he added.

Kenneth Agaba, the Executive Director, Business Banking at Fina Bank, said that the training equipped him with skills to create solid strategic alignment within his executive leadership team.

"Leadership is always the critical task of setting the organisation’s tone; the mentorship will help us in putting our companies on the right path of success,” he noted.

"We are going to share experiences with our staff and this will assist us in strengthening capacity building in our institutions.”

According to Armour, the president of SLDI and the trainer, leadership development is a priority for any business or company serious about securing its future.

"To develop leaders, both for today and tomorrow, leadership coaching is today's methodology of choice,” he added.

He mentioned that the training focused on providing knowledge that will be useful to leaders in governments and business.
