MUHANGA- A Mercedes Benz saloon Reg. No RAB 706 I yesterday rammed into a commercial plaza in Muhanga town leaving the driver seriously injured and a shopkeeper traumatised.

Eyewitnesses said that the driver was over-speeding when the vehicle lost control as it negotiated a junction in Gitarama town on the Butare-Kigali highway.

"The vehicle was speeding and somehow it swayed and rammed into the building,” an eyewitness, Vincent Hagenimana, who was standing by the shops, said.

Residents moved in quickly to help save the situation and the driver was rushed to hospital, before police arrived at the scene.

Residents assisted the shop attendant (only identified as Fiona) to hospital, after she suffered from shock due to the loud bang caused by the accident.
