THE National football federation (Ferwafa) yesterday summoned Olivier Karekezi to iron out the striker’s differences with Amavubi interim coach Eric Nshimiyimana.

Despite being named in the provisional 30-man squad for the upcoming 2012 Africa Nations Cup qualifier against Benin, the in-form forward has been reluctant to join camp until his issue is resolved.

The 28-year-old blames Nshimiyimana for influencing former Amavubi coach Sellas Tetteh not to consider him in previous national team engagements. (Karekezi won one cap under Tetteh’s reign).

"We have asked him to have a chat with us (Ferwafa),” the body’s vice president Raoul Gisanura said.

Karekezi seems to have rediscovered his scoring touch after netting eight goals since his return to APR in the transfer window.

He also happens to be the only surviving member of the ‘historical team’ which featured in the 2004 Africa Nations Cup in Tunisia. Nshimiyimana was also part of that lot.
