GATSIBO-The State Minister for Primary and Secondary Education, Dr. Mathias Harebamungu has commended the contribution made by the Catholic Church in promoting education in the country.

The Minister was officiating at the ceremony to mark the 20th anniversary of the founding of Lycee de Muhura Secondary School in Gatsibo District.

The ceremony coincided with a function to hand over certificates to the school’s Alumni.

"The Catholic Church has for many years been at the forefront in promoting education in the country. This school is part of their contribution,” said the minister.

Harebamungu challenged students to keep working hard and promote Rwandan values with dignity.

Monsignor Servillian Nzakamwita of Byumba Diocese, the founders of the school, pointed out that developing the education sector was one of their core values.

The school’s head teacher, Sister Febronie Kamana, attributed the school’s excellence to students’ discipline.

Jean Bosco Sibomana, a member of the school’s alumni, said that the skills and discipline he acquired during his student days at the school shaped his life.

Over 720 students have graduated at school in the last 20 years, in various disciplines.
