RUBAVU -Survivors of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi at St Wenceslas College in Rubavu District have formed an advocacy association to support each other and fellow survivors.The school has a total of 63 students who survived the Genocide.The association is part of the national union of students who survived the genocide against the Tutsi (AERG).

According to Jean Marie Sebagenzi, the association will foster unity and awareness among survivors as well as the entire student population.
"Under our new umbrella organisation, we want to support each other, especially in providing scholastic materials that are a problem for most of us,” he said.
Sebagenzi added that the association would also assist in counselling, whenever need arises.
"Our school didn’t have an association to help the survivors,” Sixbert Kwima, the head teacher of the college, disclosed.
