Children’s story books and newspapers can inform any child about the outside world.
Reading also widens one’s vocabulary so that they will know the meaning of very many words.
When I was a child, I enjoyed reading story books such as Little Red Riding hood, Alice in Wonderland, Cinderella, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory among others.
I learnt so many new words and their spellings. I enjoyed English lessons because I was familiar with most of what was being taught.
Reading can also help children master the spellings of words. Children also learn about other places around the world.
It is sad that these days, some children have to be forced to read. However, this shouldn’t be the case because these stories are not only educative and informative but entertaining as well.
If children develop this culture and love to read widely, they will become more intelligent and updated. This will also help them to master other subjects at school.
