Messy bedrooms are not cool.

Are you having difficulty finding your possessions beneath the knee-high pile of clutter covering your floor? You know that time when your entire wardrobe is on the floor while your lonely, empty hangers clang against each other in the closet.

Half eaten buns are on the edge of a messy table, you make one step and your foot squashes the toothpaste tube?

This is when you can’t stand your room anymore! You stand in the doorway, hands on your hips and mutter, "Where the heck do I even start?”

A clean bedroom leads to a peaceful mind. Even though you may not care about the appearance of your room, it still affects you! Though at this stage, it seems not possible to tidy it up, be sure you can! Just follow these few steps. When you are done, your room will be clean and organized.

First, find your bed. It’s probably the place where you sleep at night, even if that is just a cloth pile heap protruding from the floor. There’s a mattress under there. Trust me.

You can do this by taking everything off your bed and throwing it on the floor. Everything! This includes your books, clothes, food, blankets, pillows and bed sheets. Keep moving things off until all you have left is a bare mattress.

Find some clean sheets and pillow cases. If you want, wash your blankets. If the blankets aren’t dirty, just go ahead and make your bed.

When you have finished, work from the top to the bottom, cleaning the floors last so that if anything falls (like dust) onto the floor, it will still be cleaned in the end.

Look at the walls. Do posters need to be tacked back up? Are they dusty or dirty? Do the windows need to be washed? If yes, be careful when scrubbing them because paint can be damaged by cleaning it too harshly.

If there are holes in the walls, you may need to ask for help. If you find that there are a lot of nail holes from many posters and pictures being hung around the room, you can fix this easily with putty, but again you have to be careful if the walls are painted.

Now, look at your furniture. Wipe down table-tops and shelves. Be careful about furniture, don’t scrub too hard or you can ruin the finish. Now you can mop the floor, and put away your clean clothes first.

To reduce wrinkles, try to fold them up neatly before putting them in your dresser. And hang more delicate items like blouses, skirts, and trousers.

To keep your room tidy all the time, remember to take a few minutes each day to put everything where it belongs. Take a few minutes every night before you go to bed and make sure everything is in its place and neatly put away.

You should also make it a habit to make up your bed every morning before you leave the house.
