KARONGI- Secondary school students in Karongi and Rutsiro districts have formed anti-corruption clubs.

Yesterday, Bernadette Kanzayire, the Deputy Ombudsman in charge of preventing and fighting injustice, commissioned the clubs in various secondary schools in the area.

She challenged the students to play a leading role in fighting the vice as youths, as they are the country’s future generation.

"You are the leaders of tomorrow and the struggle against corruption begins with you. Avoid any involvement as you condemn the vice,” Kanzayire advised.

She also called for joint efforts in the promotion of justice and equality among Rwandans.

Meanwhile, university students across the country hailing from Karongi, organised a re-union this week in which they pledged their full commitment towards developing their area.

"We intend to hold more of such meetings because they help us to devise means of exploiting the resources back home. The local leaders are very supportice,” Gaspard Hirwa, a third year student at KIST said.

He noted that development programs to raise individual economic welfare can be achieved through the formation of associations and cooperatives.

During the get together, Karongi District Mayor, Bernard Kayumba, re-affirmed the district’s commitment to enable the youth to transform their social and economic status.
