Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) stand to benefit after the launch of the SAP Business One software that is tailor-made to efficiently manage business processes at lower costs.

Introduced in the country by Associate Business Consultants, ABC Rwanda, a partner of SAP International Cooperation, the software package manages accounting and financial reports for businesses and is easier to install and maintain than other computer business software.

Speaking at the official launch yesterday, the CEO of ABC Rwanda, Noella Mupole, said that SAP Business One is an industry-proven application that cost-effectively captures important features for small businesses.

"The starter package is configured to serve up to five users. It is tailored to the needs of all businesses big and small and depending on the scope of the project, allows you to get up and running in three to ten days,” Mupole said.

She added that whereas many local businesses are limited to spreadsheets and other non-integrated software, SAP Business One is ideal for business expansion and management of critical information.

"You do not have to buy new software which might disrupt operations or you need to transfer your data. SAP Business One can easily be integrated and upgraded at all levels to meet your changing business requirements,” she said.

Horizon Group and Crystal Ventures are some of the few investment companies that have installed SAP Business One and when contacted, they acknowledged that the software eased their sales and customer relationship processes.

"We relied on the use of mathematics software called SAGE as well as the common Microsoft Excel program, which were prone to errors and delays. However, after installing SAP One, all business aspects are catered for easily, from paying VAT to managing inventory and billing processes,” Edwin Muyonga, the ICT Manager at Horizon Group revealed.

Some large international corporations using SAP Business One include NASA, Shell, Airbus and BBC amongst others.
