Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor, a second-biggest car manufacturer in China that is represented by Carcarbaba, a local car dealership, has unveiled a new hybrid vehicle T5 HEV on the Rwandan market.
The car is in line with the government to protect the environment, and fight against air pollution. Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor’s target is to produce zero-emission cars in the future.
While speaking at the press conference during the launch of the new car on March 22, John Mugabo, the Managing Director of Carcarbaba, stressed that the hybrid vehicle that goes for $34,000, which is approximately Rwf 34M is on promotion until June.
He explained that the car has a discount of $, 4,000, with flexible payment terms of up to one year, free comprehensive insurance for one year, and free Mango 4G internet for 12 months.
Some of the after-sales services include, a free full tank fuel on delivery, three years or 100,000km vehicle warranty, and five years or 100,000 km battery warranty, and a one-year free vehicle maintenance.
Mugabo also noted that the first 20 customers that will order the car will each get a 55-inch smart TV. The zero-kilometer car takes about one to two months to be manufactured.
The CEO of Dongfeng Africa Export Base, Huang Sheng Wei who was also present at the press conference said that Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor will support Carcarbaba in terms of providing spare parts. They also have a plan to set up an assembling plant in Rwanda in the near future.
"Rwanda is a beautiful country which is developing extremely fast and we want to grow with Rwanda for Rwandans. The Government has set clear policies to protect the environment and we are willing to lend a hand to the government in the ‘Go Green' policy by importing as many hybrid cars as possible, which are environmentally friendly, but also cost effective to meet the needs of local residents.” Said Mr. Huang Sheng Wei.
About the car
In brief, it is a non-rechargeable car, completely safe, received a five-star rating, and uses 50 per cent less fuel than other vehicles.
T5 HEV is an automatic or Electronically Controlled Continuously Variable Transmission SUV manufactured in 2023. It has a striking appearance, and its outer design resembles that of T5 EVO which is so far the bestselling at Carcarbaba.
The car is a generation compact SUV with an aspect of 4595mm length, 1865mm width, and 1680mm height. It can be driven on and off the road.
The 4E15T engine is rich with a maximum power horse (N.m) of 280 and a maximum Torque speed of 1500 to 3500, a battery voltage of 349 V, and a rated power speed (Rmp) of 5500 with fair fuel consumption of 5.3 L/100 Km and Turbo intercooler.
This offers the T5 HEV a vast power to survive in any condition of the roads. The new arrival Hybrid is Dongfeng T5 HEV which is manufactured with the world’s most recent technologies and is environmentally friendly. The price of a brand new 2023 T5 HEV will cost Rwf 38M after the promotion.
