THE national U-17 football team – the Junior Wasps could feature in the new Primus League.

According to the local football governing body (Ferwafa)’s acting president Raoul Gisanura, the move is aimed at keeping the players together while also availing them ample first team football.

"We all agree that it’s important to keep them together but we still need to iron out issues related to logistics and the team’s management,” the official said.

Asked whether it wouldn’t be a violation of Ferwafa rules for a team to feature in the top flight without being promoted from the second division, Gisanura said that rules can be amended.

"Rules are made by people and can be amended where necessary.”

Presently, the Primus league consists of twelve teams in defending champions APR, SC Kiyovu, Police, Rayon Sport, Nyanza, Espoir, AS Kigali, La Jeunesse, Mukura, Etincelles, Amagaju and Marines.
