Editor,

Cases of domestic violence have continued to appear in your paper, with suspects having gone as far as killing their partners.

On Wednesday, a man in Nyabihu District was reportedly killed, with a machete, by his own wife! Earlier in Kirehe District, a man chopped off his wife’s arm and inflicted injuries on her in an apparent domestic brawl.

We need peaceful ways of resolving conflicts in families. But unfortunately such violent and inhumane incidents continue to come up in various parts of the country, over issues which can be sorted out amicably.

Stemming domestic violence will only be successful through combined efforts including the church, communities and local leaders.
