GATSIBO- Gatsibo District Vice Mayor in charge of Finance and Economic Development, Isaie Habarurema has urged farmers not to delay planting if they are to improve agricultural production,He made the call during the launch of the new farming "Season C”, in Rwimbogo Sector of the district.

"The new farming season is here. We want our farmers to be more than prepared so that we get better yields,” he said.

During "Season B”, Gatsibo District harvested crops worth more than Rwf 18 billion with a bumper yield of beans, maize, coffee, rice, and bananas.

Habarurema called on residents to conform to the government’s land use consolidation program using fertilisers to boost production.

The district’s agronomist, Jean Claude Butera, told The New Times that fertilisers were supplied on time.

"The government subsidised the purchase of fertilizers where farmers present vouchers and buy it at cheaper prices…they should buy fertilizers on time to increase production in this coming season,” he advised.
