THE 2011/12 national women football league needs Rwf 50m to run smoothly according to the Head of women football Felicite Rwemalika.

Nine clubs including APR, Inyemera, Remera, Rubavu, Musanze, AS Kigali, Bugesera, Les Lionness and the National University of Rwanda (NUR), are expected to take part in the six month league.

The league kicks off in December and although Rwemalika acknowledges that they cannot afford to raise that sum since they depend on FIFA money to run the league, she reckons that Rwf 50m will suffice.

"We usually get Rwf26m from FIFA for the league but that is very little because the clubs don’t generate any income,” she said, adding, "So ideally, we would need Rwf 50m.” she explained to Times Sport.

The league started in 2008 and APR won it on that occasion. However, AS Kigali has won it three years in a row since.
