A high profile delegation of Singaporean government officials and businessmen arrived in the country yesterday to enhance business ties between Rwanda and Singapore.

Led by officials from International Enterprise (IE) Singapore, the delegation is comprised of major government and private sector players in ICT in general and e-Government in particular.

IE is an agency that promotes investments by Singaporean companies out of the country.

The main purpose of their visit is to network with Rwandan local ICT companies, specifically focusing on e-Government, and also to learn and understand Rwanda's national ICT Strategy, and eventually explore potential business opportunities as well as strategic partnerships.

Speaking to The New Times, the Minister in charge of ICT, Dr Ignace Gatare, said that during the visit, the team will host an ‘e-Government Day @ KIGALI session’ tomorrow where they will showcase various e-Government solutions that were implemented in Singapore.

The "e-Government Day @ KIGALI”, will gather 10 companies from Singapore and 50 from Rwanda.

"Singaporean high profile IT companies will showcase their technologies as well as interact with local companies,” said Gatare.

"Rwanda recently unveiled its NICI Plan III which will be presented at the event”.

The team also expects to understand more about Rwanda’s Vision 2020 and the e-Government plans from respective stakeholders.

The Singaporeans visit follows recent missions to Singapore by both officials from Rwanda Development Board and the Minister of ICT, which were mainly aimed at strengthening the partnership between Rwanda and Singapore.

Rwanda is currently building firm relations with Singapore, especially in the areas of technological development.
