Nkusi on campaign trail at Muhanga-based varsity

MUHANGA - Former Minister of Information, Prof. Laurent Nkusi has pledged to promote education standards and use of Information Technology once elected.

Nkusi, 61, who is vying for the senate seat on the University ticket, was campaigning at the Catholic Institute of Kabgayi (ICK) Wednesday.

The campaign was attended by a handful of students and various educationalists.

According to his manifesto, Nkusi promises to lay a strong education foundation based on culture, innovation and research to promote critical thinking and protect the environment.

He explained that all the above would be conducted with "knowledge and skills; carefulness and love”.

He said: "I come to be sent as a senator, who is trusted and trusts, and I will work closely with you as your representative.”   

Nkusi is also a renowned educationalist and researcher and has previously served as Minister of Lands, Settlements, and Environment, and Minister of Information.

He is currently the Vice Rector of Academic at UNATEK.

Students and teachers at the rally said that Nkusi has the experience and promised to vote him.

Prof Nkusi campaigned alone. However, he will join other candidates in today’s campaign trail in the province.
