Taking bribes absolutely unethical

Editor, I am reacting to a story that appeared in The New Times in which a judge in Musanze was accused of taking a bribe of Rwf100,000. The judiciary is a respected institution but this honour is conditional upon the behaviour of our  learned friends. Whether the prosecutors pin down the judge with hard evidence or not, the damage to the image of the judicially is already done. Personally, as a person with great respect for judges, I felt insulted.

Editor,

I am reacting to a story that appeared in The New Times in which a judge in Musanze was accused of taking a bribe of Rwf100,000. The judiciary is a respected institution but this honour is conditional upon the behaviour of our  learned friends.

Whether the prosecutors pin down the judge with hard evidence or not, the damage to the image of the judicially is already done. Personally, as a person with great respect for judges, I felt insulted.

I am sure those interested in strict professional ethics and moral integrity must have been disppointed by this judge’s conduct.
