The Eastern Africa Police  Chiefs Cooperation Organisation (EAPCCO) was formed in 1998, as follow up to regionalisation policy, adopted by the INTERPOL executive committee in 1985 and confirmed by the Interpol General Assembly in 1995, as an effective way of improving international Police cooperation in combating transnational crime though cooperation and collaboration, adoption of joint strategies, joint monitoring, information exchange, training, crime situation reviews and meetings, legal mutual assistance and legal harmonisation and other activities that would enhance combating cross border crime.

The  eleven countries that were clustered in the EAPCCO still remain its present members and include Burundi, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Eretria, Kenya, Rwanda, Seychelles, Somalia, Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda.

The Committee of Police Chiefs (CPC), which is the highest decision making body of the EAPCCO, meets  at least once year in an Annual General Meeting(AGM),  to take stock of progress and adopt appropriate strategies in form of resolutions, the PCC, legal, gender and training subcommittees meet as many times as necessary to  follow up on pending issues, discuss progress and formulate reports to the CPC. 

The chairmanship of the EAPCCO is rotational among the relevant Police Chiefs.

Rwanda National Police welcomes you to the 13th EAPCCO CPC  and its  accessory meetings (the  PCC, the Legal subcommittee, and the training subcommittee) that will take place here in the Serena –Kigali, Rwanda from the 11- 16 August 2011 and in which Rwanda will be honoured by the receiving the EAPCCO Chairmanship for the 2nd time.
