Editor,

Allow me to express my humble view that despite the humiliation by a more experienced Ivory Coast team, the national team Amavubi will somehow bounce back.

Indeed, it was a frustrating Saturday evening, as the Wasps went down 5-0 at home.

Sellas Tetteh watched helplessly as his boys succumbed to the European based Ivory Coast stars.

While the scores suggest something else, as someone who watched the game, I must say Amavubi didn’t go down without trying. In the first half especially, the boys gave the high earning Ivorians a run for their money.

A combination of bad luck and lack of precision meant that we lost quite some clear chances to get into the lead. This would have changed the complexion of the game had Amavubi taken the lead.

Despite losing, Amavubi showed that they can play, though the scoreline tells a different story. The boys were up to it but they were outmuscled.

The consolation is that we have some young blood in the team which makes me believe that if some of the boys who featured in the U-17 team are given the nod, Amavubi can begin from scratch.
