Editor ,

This is with reference to the interesting interview in yesterday’s edition of The New Times, with John Gara , CEO , Rwanda Development Board.

RDB’s new re-orientation strategy will surely fast-track the country’s growth trajectory. This apex body has always been extremely pro-active and innovative.

They are now looking at getting the economic cluster departments involved in investment promotion or attraction, which is good news.

Again, RDB is now also looking at a ‘ holistic’ development, in that they are getting together the Government, private sector and other players closely involved, so that the outcome is much more effective and positive.

Finally, it is very interesting to note that RDB’s strategy document , which is presently available, already outlines the standards or ‘metrics’ which serve as guidelines to measure the performance of the Board against various parameters. This shows that there is a high level of transparency within this organisation.

Having experienced, myself, the high level of professionalism and efficiency within the RDB during my visits to Kigali in 2008, 2010 and most recently, last month, I am confident RDB’s new re-orientation strategy will take this beautiful country, Rwanda, to even greater heights.
