Elephants arrive without injured Drogba

AMAVUBI Stars opponents, the Elephants of Ivory Coast arrives in the country this evening ahead of Saturday’s 2012 Africa Nations’ Cup qualifier at Amahoro stadium.According to Ferwafa chief Executive Officer Jules Kalisa told this paper yesterday that the Elephants’  will arrive at Kigali international airport at 7.30pm aboard KLM airways.

AMAVUBI Stars opponents, the Elephants of Ivory Coast arrives in the country this evening ahead of Saturday’s 2012 Africa Nations’ Cup qualifier at Amahoro stadium.

According to Ferwafa chief Executive Officer Jules Kalisa told this paper yesterday that the Elephants’  will arrive at Kigali international airport at 7.30pm aboard KLM airways.

The team will head straight to their residence at Umubano hotel and will use Amahoro stadium tomorrow for a light training to shake off their jet lag ahead of Saturday’s clash.

Meanwhile, star striker Didier Drogba has withdrawn from the travelling party. The striker and team captain suffered a mild concussion while playing for Chelsea at the weekend.

Drogba, who has 49 goals for his country, was injured in an aerial collision with Norwich City goalkeeper John Ruddy.

Head coach Zahoui Francis said as the team started camp in Amsterdam, "We are sorry for Drogba who is recovering successfully. We are going to miss him and this game will be played for him.”
