Editor,

As the country continues to register progress in all sectors, methane gas extraction would increase Rwanda’s power capacity and lower the cost of electricity in the long run.

Like many Rwandans, I can’t wait to see our country realise this dream.

Currently, our domestic power comes from hydropower, solar energy and thermal energy which is not enough to support our industries. I read with delight in yesterday’s issue of The New Times that the equipment or the floating barge is ready to set off.

This is a positive development towards achieving our long awaited vision of lowering the cost of the energy.  Once the methane gas extraction kicks off, the gas would help increase the much needed electricity to boost our development.
