Tusker Project Fame Season 3’s winner Alpha Rwirangira and DJ Eric Soul, are the only Rwandans nominated for the prestigious Afrotainment-Museke Online Africa Music Awards.

On September 24, the crème-de-la-crème of the African music industry will gather at an Afro-glam red carpet event at the annual Afrotainment Studio in New York in the U.S to recognise African talent as award winners are announced and celebrated.

Alpha was nominated in three categories; Best African Collabo, Best East Africa Artiste and Best Afro-Pop Artiste, an act that comes a few days after he won Tusker All Stars. This is a sure sign that he is rated high by fans across Africa as the awards are strictly by voting.

He is up against Kenya’s P-Unit, Avril & Marya, Kidumu, Tanzania’s Diamond and Ikraan, Somalia’s Caraale, as well as Bebe Cool and Juliana Kanyomozi from Uganda, in the Best East Africa Artiste category.

Whilst in Afro-Pop, he is competing with the likes of D’Banj, 2Face Idibia and P-Square from Nigeria, together with Tanzania’s Shaa, Avril & Marya from Kenya and Ghana’s Castro.

The Afrotainment-Museke Online African Music Awards are built on the belief in bringing together Africans through music exchange, and as such, the African Collaboration category is aimed at recognising efforts made by artistes to collaborate with other artistes outside of their own country borders.

Now more than ever, African artistes are making more and more efforts to collaborate cross-borders and cross-genres, with amazing and increasingly popular results, and Afrotainment-Museke Online African Music Awards strongly believe in being proactive about acknowledging and rewarding such efforts.

Fans of African music are encouraged to vote for their favourite artistes they feel are most deserving of honours in the various categories. The voting lines opened August 10 and will close on September 18. Below are some nominees in their respective categories:
