The Rwanda Over-The-Counter (OTC) market gained momentum last week as Frw80.1 million worth of bonds were traded at the price of Frw100 in just two transactions. The transaction marks the record trading on the Rwanda OTC market since the Rwanda capital market was launched.

This is Frw75.5 million higher than the previous week’s trading when bonds worth Frw4.6 million were traded at the price of Frw100 in three transactions.

It is also worth noting that all the transactions were recorded on one Treasury bond (1/2008/2yr) which matures on 14/01/2010. This was the first product to be issued on the OTC market.

The other two Treasury bonds and Rwanda Commercial Bank’s (BCR) corporate bond where not traded last week as there were no offers and bids for these securities.

However on Friday, the last day of trading, the market was quiet. There were no offers or bids for the four securities listed on the OTC market.
