Nations’ Cup qualifier

Sept. 3
Rwanda  vs  Côte d’Ivoire
AMAVUBI Stars were held to a barren draw by Primus league side La Jeunesse in a training match played yesterday at Kigali regional stadium, Nyamirambo.

Despite the goalless draw, head coach Sellas Tetteh was a little delighted with the team’s display after months of inactivity by the players.

"There was an improvement compared to the game played against SC Kiyovu. There was a structured flow of game and this is good for us,” said Tetteh, whose team played a 1-0 win over SC Kiyovu on Wednesday.

According to Tetteh, the team will be engaged in two more friendlies next week with the full squad including the professional players.

The players expected to join camp this Sunday include Patrick Mafisango, Haruna Niyonzima, Elias Uzamukunda, Kalisa Mao and Labama Bokota.

Rivals Cote d’Iviore is expected to regroup in Holland on the same day ahead of their scheduled arrival to Rwanda on September 1.

Rwanda will go into the game vying for a win to at least help them snatch second position in Group H if they manage to win the remaining two qualifiers against the Elephants and the Squirrels of Benin and hope that both Benin and Burundi lose their remaining games.
