CHARLES Mwesigye Tibingana was the hero as the Amavubi Stars pipped SC Kiyovu 1-0 a build-up match played yesterday at Kigali regional stadium, Nyamirambo.

Amavubi play another Primus national league side La Jeunesse this morning in anther fine-tuning match aimed at preparing the national team ahead of the next month’s 2012 Nations’ Cup qualifier against Cote d’Ivoire in Kigali.

The young Proline midfielder, included in the provisional squad, fired in a first half striker to help his cause as far as securing a place in the final team is concerned.

In a related development, skilled left back Abouba Sibomana has been ruled out of the Cote d’Ivoire crunch following a nagging hip injury.

The sad news was confirmed by Amavubi assistant coach Erc Nshimiyimana yesterday. He said, "Sibomana is out of camp. His failed to recover from the hip injury and there is no reason why he should remain in camp.”

"His injury needs a lengthy time to heal and we are actually going to miss him for Cote d’Ivoire’s match,” added Nshimiyimana.

Rivals Cote d’Iviore is expected to regroup in Holland this Sunday ahead of their scheduled arrival to Rwanda on September 1.

Rwanda will go into the game vying for a win to at least help them snatch second position in Group H if they manage to win the remaining two qualifiers against the Elephants and the Squirrels of Benin and hope that both Benin and Burundi lose their remaining games.
