As new boy Cedric Amiss nets winner for Blues

JEAN Marie Ntagwabira is happy with the way his new signings have quickly integrated into the team following yesterday’s well deserved 1-0 victory over DRC’s Virunga at Umuganda stadium.

After Wednesday’s 3-1 defeat at the hands of Azam (Tanzania), the blues have registered back to back wins over Kabasha and Virunga.

And Ntagwabira has more reason to be happy after two of his new acquisitions finding the net.

Burundian international Cedric Amiss, one of the scorers when Amavubi succumbed to a 3-1 defeat in the 2012 Africa Nations Cup return leg qualifier, scored Rayon’s consolation against Azam.

He also scored the winner yesterday. Saidi Abed Makasi was also on song as Rayon overcame Kabasha on Saturday.

Ntagwabira says that the pair’s quick integration into the team is good news for the club who are chasing for their first silverware since 2005.

"We are happy with how the new players are blending into the team. It gives us great hope for the new season,” the former APR, Atraco and Kiyovu coach said.

In the other friendly, Etincelles recovered from a slow start to beat Kabasha 2-1.

Rayon is said to be lining up more friendlies ahead of next month’s Primus Cup, the curtain raiser for the Primus League.

The winner will take home Rwf 5m, while the runner-up and the third placed team will walk away with Rwf3m and Rwf1m respectively.

Last year, Kiyovu beat Rayon 2-1 to lift the title.
