Monday, March 20, 2023

Early this month, one of the biggest studios and record labels in Rwanda, Country Records, signed new producers as part of the label’s recovery from challenges it faced in the last few years.

According to the studio’s Managing Director Noopja, signing new producers is part of the studio’s goal of supporting the local creative industry and taking Rwandan music to another level.

Today, Country Records is home to four music producers and video directors who are driving Rwanda’s music scene in the right direction. Who are the new producers?

Kozze

Kozze, who is not new like others at Country Records, is already making hits such as ‘Umuana’ and ‘Amayoga’ by Kevin Kade among many others.

The young producer joined the studio after graduating at Nyundo School of Arts and Music, and is the second producer to enter the studio following Element who left Country Records and joined 1:55am Entertainment early this year.

Kozze, real name Jean Pierre Irakoze, is now among the new producers signed under Country Records and he has already produced influential hits including 'Umwana' by Kevin Kade, 'Your Boyfriend' by Davis D, 'Kanjenje' of Papa Cyangwe and Bushali’s 'Kurura' among others. He is also a song composer and sound engineer.

Real Beat

Real Beat is a hit machine, having produced bangers like ‘Koma’ by Gabito Guitar, Rompe by Afrique, and Exchange by Bwiza among others, there is no doubt that Country Records is in the right direction after signing him.

Born Aime Patrick Bigirimana, the 26-year old producer started producing in 2020 at Touch Records before heading to Country Records this year. He’s a producer and instrumentalist at the same time.

Prince Kiiz

Prince Kiiz, the youngest of them all, is currently one of the biggest producers in Rwanda behind hits like ‘Fakee Gee’ by Alyn Sano among others.

The 21-year old producer started producing in 2022 at 1:55am where he spent a few months before joining Country Records this year.

Born Prince Moise Irasubiza, the young producer is also the brains behind Kenny Sol’s new track dubbed ‘Addicted.’ He has also produced ‘Funga Macho’ by Bruce Melodie, ‘Joliki’ by Calvin Mbanda, ‘Boo and Bae’ by Alyne Sano among others.

Pakkage

Pakkage, real name Fabrice Muhirwa, is another upcoming name showing signs of making things happen in the music industry.

He started making music at a tender age, getting inspiration from his parents who were instrumentalists in a Kigali-based church back in the days.

Pakkage later went to Kenya to study music production and mastering as well as sound engineering, and later joined Feliz Music Empire after returning home.

Early this year, Pakkage secured a deal with Country Records and it’s his first contract with a music house in Rwanda.

With Pakkage at the Country Records, there is no doubt that more hits are coming out of the studio given how his production touch is unique. He is producing dozens of hits at the studio.
