The National rugby team-Silverbacks have started training ahead of the 13th edition of the Prinsloo 7s slated to run from September 2-4 in Nakuru, Kenya.

A provisional 22-man team started training yesterday at Rugunga playground under the auspices of Gerald Nsenga.

According to the National Rugby Federation (RRF) vice president Alex Araire, the team needs about Rwf1m to compete.

"Meals and accommodation are already taken care of but we still need Rw1m to cater for the players’ transport and allowances,” Araire said.

Last year, the Silverbacks lost to Kenya’s Blakbald in the Bowl Cup semis.

Mwamba of Kenya won the tournament after defeating Quins 17-10.
